Meet Michelle
Where creative storytelling meets professional expertise.
Hi! I’m Michelle (she/her), a freelance editor and the founder of Rascon Revisions. Whether I’m refining a 90,000-word dark fantasy novel or polishing high-impact marketing copy for a small business, my philosophy remains the same: to honor your unique voice while ensuring your message lands exactly as intended.
My journey with words began in corporate copywriting and editing before expanding into developmental editing, copyediting, and proofreading for books and brands. In 2015, I officially launched Rascon Revisions to bridge the gap between creative storytelling and strict editorial precision.
Polishing Bestsellers & Building Brand Continuity
I bring over a decade of hands-on experience to every project. Early in my freelance career, I had the privilege of working with best-selling author Jex Lane on Captive: Beautiful Monsters Vol. 1, which went on to reach #1 across multiple Amazon categories. Later that same year, the agency I partnered with awarded me Editor of the Year for editorial excellence.
Today, my creative specialties include developmental and line editing for YA and Adult fiction (specifically dark fantasy, LGBTQIA+, paranormal, romance, urban fantasy, and women’s fiction), along with copyediting submission packages for traditional-publishing authors.
But storytelling isn’t just for books. I bring the same narrative discipline and structural clarity to small businesses by helping brands polish their newsletters, blogs, merchandise, and customer-facing copy so they can connect deeply with their audiences.
Professional Standards & Dedicated Partnership
I believe the best editing happens through collaboration. To ensure your words receive industry-standard care, I am an active member of the following organizations:
The Editorial Freelancers Association (EFA)
ACES: The Society for Editing
Revise & Resub (#RevPit)
I also hold a unique certificate as an Online Counseling and Suicide Intervention Specialist (OCSIS via the QPR Institute), which informs my supportive approach to coaching authors and brands through vulnerable creative processes and sensitive themes.
Beyond the Page
Originally from Orange County, California, I now run Rascon Revisions from San Antonio, Texas. When I don’t have a red pen or a digital manuscript in hand, I spend time with my husband of nearly 20 years, our teen, our senior kitty, Ricochet, our always-a-puppy basset hound, Amelia, and the teen’s kitten, Cinder. Sometimes I even squeeze in a murder show.
What are we polishing next?
